Advise for accommodation and travel to the venue

The event takes place in Buenos Aires from Monday November 11th to Thursday 14th early afternoon.

There is an additional optional activity in Bariloche on Friday November 15th and Saturday 16th. It includes a visit to INVAP S.E.

This will require to travel by plane on Thursday afternoon.

IF YOU DECIDE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE BARILOCHE PART, WE RECOMMEND YOU MAKE THE TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS ASAP.

For traveling to Bariloche, you can do your travel arrangements yourself or ask Instituto Colomb to do it for a final cost of US$ 800, which includes plane tickets, all local transportation, accomodation and the activities of Saturday 16th. (This option is available until October 21st).

If you are doing Bariloche arrangements by yourself, we suggest booking the Aerolineas Argentinas 18:00 flight AR1692 on Thursday 14th ASAP. Other flight options might be available by low-cost airlines such as Flybondi or Andes.

Accommodation in BUENOS AIRES

Buenos Aires has an ample accommodation offer, and you should not have a problem finding a room in a hotel near Retiro, or Recoleta, even if you book last minute. We suggest doing it through www. booking.com, or a similar site, and you can ask us before confirming the reservation to have 'local' advice.

You might also find a hotel further from downtown and closer to the venue.

Dolmen Hotel http://www.hoteldolmen.com.ar/   (from U$ 90 per night)
El Conquistador Hotel https://turismo.buenosaires.gob.ar/es/alojamiento/el-conquistador-hotel (from U$ 62 per night)

Accommodation in BARILOCHE

Currency

(to sell, to buy) approximate, as of September 30th.
1 Dólar: 55.50         59.00 pesos
1 Euro: 63.00          66.00 pesos
1 Real: 1280           1480 pesos

It is easy to change money in banks or currency exchange places (‘Casas de Cambio’), however, you might occasionally have some trouble getting money from an ATM machine with a foreign credit card. Usually changing money at the hotel will give you a worse exchange rate. We do not recommend changing money on the street.

Some shops and restaurants will give you a fair price for your cash foreign currency, others will not. Look at the signs, or ask before your purchase. With credit cards, it will be the nominal rate.

From Ezeiza airport (Pistarini) to Downtown Buenos Aires.

You can take a remis or a Bus service. The best-known company is Tienda León. We do not recommend taking a taxi from the airport.
We recommend you take a Tienda León bus that will take you to their base CORREGIR. If your hotel is a few kilometers from CORREGIR, you can also pay for their ‘extended trip’ service, and when you get off at their base in CORREGIR, they will take you to your hotel in a car or van shared with other passengers. (You have to tell them when purchasing the bus ticket at Ezeiza, you cannot hire that service once you get to CORREGIR.)

Tickets can be bought right after you get out of customs and immigration, they have a booth.

The values are IN PESOS (you can purchase your ticket online before the trip, you can also pay with a credit card or cash on arrival):

Bus Service:
Travel time to Retiro: 45 minutes- 1 hour
Cost: $440
Cost (with extended trip): $500 - $550 pesos

Tienda León Remis Service:
(up to 4 people per vehicle)
Travel time: 35 minutes - 1 hour
Cost:  $1830 - $1900 pesos depending on the amount of luggage.

From Aeroparque Airport to Downtown Buenos Aires.

The same suggestions apply. But time and cost are different:

Bus Service:
Cost: $200 pesos
Cost (with extended trip): $230 - $250 pesos
If your hotel is not near Retiro, then you should take a taxi from Retiro to your hotel.

Remis Service:
(up to 4 people per vehicle):
Travel time: 15 to 40 minutes
Cost : $450 to $600 pesos (depending on luggage)
Travel time: 25 to 40 minutes

The Venue

C3 Auditorium
The event will take place in the C3 Auditorium at the ´Polo Tecnológico’, located in Palermo, in the city of Buenos Aires.

http://ccciencia.gob.ar/

Address:
Godoy Cruz 2270, Buenos Aires

How to make it to the venue
Taxi:
Travel time: From Retiro
30 - 40 mins
Cost: $400 - 500  pesos

From Recoleta
20 -30 min
Cost: $300 pesos

Train:
Take the San Martín train line at Retiro Station to the first stop “Palermo”. You can use the SUBE card, or buy a ticket at the station.

Bus:
You need the SUBE card.
You can look for options with the interactive planner: http://comollego.ba.gob.ar/
Also, the Google Maps application will give you many bus alternatives from your hotel to the venue.

Subway:
Take the D line, and get off at PALERMO station. You need the SUBE card.

If you need more recommendations, don´t hesitate to ask for advice!
2iaalasss@unsam.edu.ar
