This research line exploits the localized surface plasmon resonances present in metallic nanoparticles for the study and detection of molecules by LSPR and SERS.
On the one hand, through the analysis of experimental surface-enhanced Raman spectra we seek to understand molecular interactions in catalytic systems. On the other hand, by means of local surface plasmon resonance spectroscopy, we seek to develop gas and biomarker sensors. To achieve selectivity and sensitivity, the design of the plasmonic nanostructures with adequate optical properties and its controlled surface functionalization are paramount.
